Christmas has come and gone :(

First things first...The Pre-Christmas Adventure:

So Casey sold his truck a week or so ago...and since then he's been on the hunt for a new car... Sunday morning, he found it.

So right after church, we had to leave as soon as possible to grab it before it was gone.. unfortunately, it was a race against time, the car was in San Jose and we were told another guy was on his way from Sacramento to look at the same car... so we jumped on the road and drove for like 5 hours... and when we got there, we didn't see the car... so we walked into the dealer and i asked, "Did you guys sell the black CTSV?" and one of the many sales men said "yeah.. you just missed it". As i turned to walk out, another sales man said... "Don't let him give you a hard time, we moved it to the back so no one would take it before you got here."

(By this time it was 4:45PM) We did not leave until about 8pm and we still had a four and a half hour drive ahead of us and we heard there was a storm coming. Casey felt it best that we did not drive in the dark and that we sleep over at my dads house (just an hr away from where we were). As we drove off of the lot, it started to rain and we were starving so we got dinner and by the time we were done with THAT it was pretty late and it was raining.

so Casey programmed my dad's address into his little GPS thing in the car and we were off. I was following Casey, and my dad was following me. We passed the freeway on-ramp. and for about 10 minutes drove and made some weird turns onto random residential streets, hit dead ends, did U-turns. Finally, Casey pulls over in some Business area. He says he doesn't know what the GPS is doing but now we are lost. After about 20 minutes of trying to figure out where we are and how to get back, i remember passing a University so i Googled the University on my phone and then Map-quested directions from the University to my dad's house. It took a little bit to re-find the University, but once we were there, i knew we would be fine. It was still rainy and the directions were in small font on my phone, and i couldn't really see the street signs ahead of me, so i was driving really slow with my dad and husband following me. Once we got on the freeway my dad's house was on, he took the lead. We didn't get home until like 1am. We left about 7:30 am the next morning. I was an hour late to work but all was well. Casey got his early Christmas gift to himself and we were home safe... granted, VERY tired, but home safe!

NOW! The Christmas Overview:

On Christmas Eve i was scheduled to work at the salon from 2:30 to 8pm. For some reason i thought my shift started at 1 so i rushed out the door and got stuck in traffic. I called to say that i was going to be like 5 min late, and the girl at the desk was like, "What are you talking about... you don't start til 2:30!" So lucky me, i got to squeeze in some last minute Christmas shopping. I ran to Wal Mart (on Christmas eve... yeah I'm crazy) and then to some other random stores and was finally DONE with my shopping! I was even EARLY to my shift. The last client left at about 4pm and then i was alone. My husband came to sit with me from 5-8. I wasn't mad about staying because based on last years sales, it would be worth it. Unfortunately, only 3 people came in from the time the last client left. I sold some products and a gift card and it was worth it, but not what was expected. I got to my mom's house just in time for the Christmas Dinner to begin.

(at moms house)
After dinner, and gift opening, we played Catch Phrase and hung out with my mom's boyfriends kids. Casey and i left at about 11pm and we STILL had some presents to wrap and stuff to do before the morning.

So i finished getting everything done a little after midnight.

The next morning, Casey and i were up at about 7am to do our own little Christmas. It was fun having our first married Christmas! We opened gifts, cleaned up and got ready for My Dad's Christmas. This year, we were hosting Christmas with my dad and siblings. Everyone got to our house around 9am. We opened gifts and made breakfast together (dad bought us a griddle... so we made pancakes on it! YUM). At about 11:45 we headed over to Casey's Family Christmas.

There we ate a Christmas Lunch and watched the kids go crazy (SO MUCH FUN) and enjoyed each other's company.

I am so lucky to have so many people i love around me. The movie Four Christmases was loud and annoying but my Three Christmases was fun, still loud, but full of Christ's love. I am so blessed to have a loving husband to enjoy this Christmas with.

Last night was Mav's 2nd Birthday. So we all met at Cody and Lauren's house for pizza and presents. Mav and all the other kids were so excited and Lauren made such a beautiful cake for Mav!

Pictures to come!

So i know i will have more to post soon (ex: Pics of the tree, house, and whatever new car casey decides to get along with more stories on the recent happenings of the Youngest Evans Crew)... but i really wanted to post to share this song that ALWAYS makes me cry and always makes me really in the "Christmas mood".

Also to urge you to get the CD/Book The Forgotten Carols (any LDS or maybe even Christian bookstore should have it) Its AMAZING! ill post more later...

Fa La La La La, La La La Laaa

CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE!

it is officially time to start wearing your Christmas swag and sing Christmas carols and start....
CHRISTMAS SHOPPING!

but I'm getting ahead of myself... i need to go in chronological order.

My Thanksgiving started on Wednesday... I woke up Wednesday morning feeling horrible. I had been getting migraines like no ones business and they were BAD. I was late to my first shift at Sunshine and missed both of my classes that day. I rested a bit and felt kinda better for my closing shift at Sunshine. I had to be there... it was the annual Sunshine Thanksgiving Feast where the whole site gets together in one room and we all feast and are thankful together. It was really great...minus the light sensitivity, nausea, and pounding head. I made it through the shift, went home and Casey took me strait to the doctor. A little over one hour later, my migraine was going away... with one down side... my sore rear end... Casey convinced me to take the option of getting a shot of medicine in the rear to make the migraine go away...and I'm thankful i did...because it was the first relief i had gotten in a long time. As we drove home, Casey and i talked about the things we were thankful for right then and there...

-My husband : supporting me the whole time, knowing how much i HATE doctors
-Having health insurance so we could actually get me the help i needed. and most importantly, not having to sit in First Care for 4 hours.

We stopped at the grocery store on the way home for some supplies to make the dessert i volunteered to bring to the Evans' Thanksgiving. Without the shot, there's no way i could have contributed that. What did i contribute u ask? Chocolate dipped pretzel sticks... it was an experiment...that turned out really well...if i say so myself. i will have to make more ... u know... so i can post pictures of them... eating them is just a bonus :)

The next morning i woke up and i felt another migraine coming on. The doctor prescribed this dissolving medication to take at the start of an episode...and i did... and YET AGAIN another reason to be thankful for.

After Round 1, we headed to The Shepherd's house for another feast. Then i got to see Madison, Garrett, Julie, My cousins, Aunt, Uncle, Grandparents and more... oh yah..and My Dad! (another reason to be thankful). I enjoyed being there with everyone.

After Round 2, we headed back to the Casey's parents house for Round 3...and the dipped pretzel sticks. We chatted, ate more, and watched Home Alone.

This was such a great thanksgiving. On top of all the things that make me grateful every day...most importantly, i am thankful for my large family... and their company, support and love!

Yesterday (Black Friday) I went to the Americana with my dad and Madison and got some shopping in, sat on Santa's Lap and had a great day. The crowds weren't bad at all and we found some good deals. Good Daddy/Daughter Day :)

On a different note... The Twilight Saga: New Moon came out...and of course, i saw it opening night. Casey earned HUGE bonus points for diving to Universal Studios after his class (and even though i know he REALLY didn't want to) to stand in line with myself and some of my friends and then stay there till about 3 30 am (that's when we got out of the movie). But it was So worth it :) [Below is a picture of all the girls who saw New Moon opening night.]

Oh. also, last weekend I got invited to see Beethoven's 1st and 3rd Symphonies in Long Beach with my friend Christina. I was weary at first but I'm so glad i went. Classical music is NOT so boring and is Really good! I enjoyed dressing up and getting cultured. I meant to take more pictures but the only one i ended up with is one from the place we had dinner before the show.

I have a busy month ahead so more pictures and posts to come! Stay Tuned and Happy Holidays :)

Thats My Man!

So quick story of the day

This morning Casey and I had a bunch of plans, get breakfast, go to the temple, come home, and spend some time together... and then... the story starts:

I got up a little bit late... but still with enough time to do everything planned for the day. It's freezing in our house, especially in the mornings. (comes in very useful in the summer and its so nice and cool in here) so i have a space heater on while i get ready. I was blow-drying my hair when all of a sudden the blow dryer stopped and my feet suddenly got very cold... i blew a fuse! dang-it!

Thank goodness my super helpful hubby went strait to the back yard to flip the switch back on. He was outside for probably 2, maybe 3, minutes. Then he came back in and we both continued getting ready. We were RIGHT on time for the day when i realized, i haven't seen my dear kitty, Lucy in a while. I go wandering around the house to see where shes at. Then i check under the bed, in the garage, and in all of her usual hiding places... PANIC... shes not in the house! My kitty is missing! I run out to the front yard calling her name...nothing... i look out the back door, nothing... double, triple check all the usual spot... nothing. I return outside and walk further into the back yard. I call her name for like... 5 minutes with nothing... she HAS to be outside. Finally i hear something... its definitely her cry (she has a very distinctive "voice") but its far away. I keep calling her... a few minutes later, another MEOW but i don't see her... I yell for Casey... He comes outside and i say, shes outside!

Hes out there for maybe 30 seconds and he quickly spots her... way up high, in the big tree in our backyard!

For the next forty-five minutes we scramble to get her out. I try coaxing her... tempting her with food... she's enjoying herself in the tree. Finally Casey gets a broom and gets her down with that. By that time it was too late to do certain things for the day so we regrouped and went to Lunch (no breakfast...thanks Lucy). And ran some errands.

Thank You to my Hubby who, though she was being really annoying and i know he was tempted to let her stay out there, got my crazy cat Lucy out of the tree! :)

THE END

Spook-Tacular!

Hey everyone! I cannot believe its November already! I always seem to get caught off guard by the start of yet another month. Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner! I guess its time for some updates from October:

JUSTIN AND ANDREA ARE MARRIED!

The wedding was beautiful and two weeks later was the reception! I really enjoyed being a bridesmaid for the first time. I'm so glad they are finally married. now we can hang out as married couples. its awesome... except for the fact that in January they are going back to Idaho and leaving us here in Cali... we will have to enjoy their company while we still can...
Here are some pictures from the wedding. Casey got caught holding the flowers for me while i fixed my shoes or something.

Halloween was really fun. At sunshine, i ended up dressing up as "Bambi the Builder" (or Bob the Builder..but my work name is Bambi.. you get the idea". The Fall Festival was a blast. I was a greeter so i got to see all the students in their costumes walking in. The night of Halloween we passed out candy, went out to dinner with Justin and Andrea and watched the movie 1408. (FREAKY!).
Everything is business as usual. Casey and I are still in school, still working away...nothing has really changed.

The only "new" thing is for a while, i will be the subbing as the singing time person in primary. For those that know me well.. Ive always loved to sing... but never could. I am not the most musically inclined person. So far i have done two singing times...and they weren't horrific. The first one went really well ...the second one... was not a failure. Of course, there's a story:

Last Sunday was my cousin's baby's blessing in my mother in laws ward. It starts at the same time our ward does so we planned on running over for the blessing.. leaving shortly after sacrament and making it back in time for singing time. easy enough.

So we get to church during the opening song and go to the back to sit with Casey's mom. She looks at me and says "I didn't know your dad was here". I look towards the front of the chapel to see my dad standing in the middle of the middle row staring back at me. The next minute went by really quickly. I'm pretty sure i babbled something to Casey before running to where my dad was, tripping over half of the people in the row, hugging him and crying. (I have missed my dad a lot lately...) I ended staying for pretty much all of sacrament and was still pretty emotional when i got to singing time. I did my bit and left right after to go to the open house and spend some more time with my dad. Sooo i was a bit distracted during singing time to say the least.

Hopefully ill get some pictures back soon.

Tonight was my friend Danica's bachelorette party. We went to BJ's for dinner and pazookies and then to the bowling ally for some good "Clean" bachelorette fun. Some girls got naughty accessories to liven things up a bit... i think that was the most entertaining Wednesday night the bowling alley has had in a while! haha.

This weekend is Danica's Wedding and I'm cooking a nice dinner one of the nights. Its been a while since Ive been able to cook a nice dinner for my husband. I'm really looking forward to it.

I will have a lot of updates soon with the Holidays quickly approaching and many of my friends getting engaged and married and stuff. Coming up is My mom's birthday, New Moon, Thanksgiving, the end of my first full semester of college, Christmas, New years and some more people getting married!

Until next time :)

Happy 24th Hubby!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CASEY!

Sunday, the man of my dreams turned 24! Last year for his birthday, I was not able to do what i wanted because i got laid off from my job. So this year, i really wanted to make up for last year and throw him a surprise party and then go to San Diego to the Mirimar Air Show.

Unfortunately, i caught the flu the Sunday before his birthday. I spend Monday at the doctors, Tuesday and Wednesday recovering and highly medicated, and then Thursday and Friday working and trying to catch up from being out all week. Needless to say the surprise party didn't happen.

Casey's and his mom were so helpful, she even offered to help me try to pull of the party even though i was pretty much beat up but it just wasn't possible.

I told Casey about it and he was so cute...just excited about the idea. maybe next year i could pull it off.

Friday night we left for San Diego (a few hours behind schedule, but that's okay...) We spend a good half hour lost in Sylmar...which was fun because i had never seen Sylmar and (I'm easily amused) i loved seeing something i never had before.

When we got to my Grandparents house it was like 10pm and they had cake and ice cream ready for us. We sang to Casey and hit the sack.

Early the next morning we drove another 45 min to the air show. it was SO much fun. Casey loved it. It was my second time there but Casey's first... we decided this will be a yearly thing. Casey and i loved watching the military planes doing amazing stunts in the sky. We left a bit early though, because we totally spaced it and forgot about sunscreen. We got pretty burnt! [Picture of our sunburns and then of the cool things we saw while we baked :) ]

After the air show, we went back to my grandparent's house, took a nap and then went out to dinner at Chili's where they sung happy birthday to him and then we went and saw the Toy Story Double Feature in 3d.

AND THEN... we went back to my Grandparents house, went to sleep, woke up the next morning and drove home for birthday dinner at Casey's parents' house.

All in all the weekend was a success and i am feeling much better, but now I'm sunburned. It was worth it to see how much my husband enjoyed it. I'm so lucky to have a husband who can do all he does for me and on top of it, go to school and work and take care of a sick wife... I'm just so glad we could do something nice for his birthday.

This weekend is Justin and Andrea's wedding so we get to escape again to San Diego to my Grandparents house. I'm so excited... to see my grandparents and to see two of my friends become an eternal family. I'm so happy for them!

all that is left to do now is get ready for our fist Holiday season together.. starting with Halloween! yay!

Quick Thought

So today was a weird Sunday... After a long babysitting job last night, and Casey fixing up some cars last night, it was more than impossible (whatever that means) to get him out of bed this morning. So needless to say, we did not go to church today - sad :(.

We did, however, go to lunch with Casey's family which is always fun. It was nice to see Lauren and the boys...they'd been in Australia. I'm having fun getting ready for the upcoming events (as mentioned in my last blog).

Casey decided that tonight, he was going to work on the house as i worked on my homework. He has installed our medicine cabinet, finished up some painting, installed a porch light and some landscape lights. he's still going!

But about fifteen minutes ago, a there was a knock at the door. I was very surprised to see some ladies from the ward! It made my night that they were in the neighborhood and wanted to say, "hi". It meant SO much to me. Sometimes i feel so out of place in a ward full of moms and dads and stuff... but their visit really made me feel good about my place in the ward. I'm so grateful to be a member of such a loving church (and such a true church)

and of course very lucky to have a husband so capable of making our house a home.

All i have to say is, i am blessed!

Its that time of year!

Hey again!

it just hit me that its that time of year where everything goes in fast motion.
upcoming is a bunch of school stufff, casey's birthday, a trip to san diego to see my grandparents and go to the Mirimar air show, Andrea and Justin getting married, some family birthdays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, the year 2010, valentines day, followed by casey and my one year anniversary.... wow how time goes fast. i am sort of overwhelmed by it all. im trying to focus on one day at a time. first things first...decorate for fall and prepare for Casey's birthday!

my husband will be turning 24 on Oct 4 this year. i am SO excited because (like i mentioned) we are going to San Diego to the Mirimar air show. i love going on little weekend trips with my husband. with all the hustle and bustle that goes into our every day, taking two days to escape just the two of us really brings us closer.

This past weekend was really fun! i spend Saturday with Casey's mom and we started working on some crafts for Halloween. I am going to make some Terra Cotta Pot Pumpkins. i also want to make a wreath and some other cute things to make our house more homey. i will (for sure) post some pictures once they are finished.

OH and yesterday marked Casey and i being married for 6 months. Time really has moved quickly...

that's all there is to report for now. until then... :)

Oy My achin' Back!

So these past two weeks have been really odd.

The Tuesday after the three day weekend, I hurt my back at work and was unable to go to work for two days. So that has been the focus of my life lately. They gave me some medication which proved that i am quite the medical light weight. (me + muscle relaxers=me as a vegetable).
But now I am back at work and doing my best to recover quickly. Yesterday i went for a follow up with the doctor and they decided to do an XRay. Everything is fine, however my muscle is still spasm-ing and i am still in pain at random intervals in the day.
They recommended physical therapy... i don't know if i want to do it. I would rather just slowly recover and work out at the gym or something. I don't know. Maybe I'm being stubborn.
OH and in other people news:

Justin and Andrea (friends of casey and myself) got engaged on Sept 11 and are getting married October 10th...of this year! i am SO excited for them!
My mother is currently in Israel to celebrate the Jewish Holidays with her friends that live in Israel and spend time with their families.

Tuesday the 15th was my big brother Garrett's birthday... big 25!
Today is my neices Makenna and Reagan's Birthdays. They are now 6 & 5! They are getting so big!

On Monday, Casey and I will have been married for 6 months! time is flying so fast. I feel like we Just got married. I feel like August is just beginning and in no time at all we will be doing our first Christmas as a married couple! But right now i need to focus in on Halloween and Fall decorations. Casey's mom and i are going to try to do some crafts this year and hopefully make our house look more homey and festive for the holidays. YAY! so much to be excited about!

ps: small (sad) note... this year marks the tenth year of my grandpa passing away. I just wanted to post something about him. He has been on my mind a whole lot this year. Especially since i got married. He was such a good grandfather... a great example to myself and my siblings. I will always look up to him and am so happy his health struggles are over. I am so greatful that families are together forever. I love you Grandpa Boyd!
*I wish i had a picture of him on the computer. Any family members that do, please send it to me*
UPDATE: I FOUND PICTURES OF MY AMAZING GRANDPA BOYD.

Sweet September!

Once again, it has been way too long since the last post. Perhaps if i blogged more regularly, my posts would be short and sweet as opposed to my usual "short stories". So here's the updates.

A lot of changes have gone down at sunshine as far as my classroom is concerned. First I was in a classroom with "Raven", a 6 foot tall athlete from Tennessee. But Sunshine isn't where he wanted to be so he left. Now I'm with Polka-Dot and Cinnamon. Polka-dot used to be front desk but with her school schedule this year, she couldn't do that anymore so now she is my co counselor. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I'm with Cinnamon. I still don't know too much about her. I've had so much fun this year so far! my kids are adorable. I love starting the year with a group of kids. Kind of a fresh slate... so cool!
August's classroom theme was "Back to School Roundup". I had so much fun with that as far as decorating went.

This month is "Sweet September", Kind of a play off Candyland. I'm having more fun this month with the planning and Candy Themed activities.

When I'm not at sunshine, I'm at COC. Casey and i have both started school. I go between shifts on Monday and Wednesday and Casey goes after work on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. My classes are so much fun and they help a lot at work. They give me a lot of new insights and help me understand the children better. I cannot wait to learn more!

This last week, both work and school were made difficult due to the fires close to where i work and close to COC. there was so much smoke and ash that my asthma hurt SOO bad. i had a hard time just walking to and from my car! it was insane. my asthma is usually not a huge deal, but for some reason, the dense smoke triggered it really bad. But all is well now....

Especially considering Casey and i took the holiday weekend as a chance to come and visit my dad in San Fransisco. Yesterday, Casey and i took the BART to Embarcadaro and then walked through the Farmer's Market and then through Fisherman's Warf. We hit up Gharadelli Square and of course my favorite cupcake shop, Kara's Cupcakes! (amazing!)
Casey had his first REALLY Gharadelli sundae. We were thinking of taking a sunset cruise on the bay, around Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate Bridge, but the dense fog rolled in and we knew that if we did it, it would have been a waste of money because we wouldnt be able to see the sunset, let alone any of the sights. So we headed back early to do dinner with my dad. But we didn't feel like walking the whole way back, and i had blisters on my feet from my sandals so we hopped on what i called "a Ridey Guy". Its a guy on a bike with a two passenger seat buggy towed behind him. It was sort of romantic and a nice way to see what we walked in a better light... its really beautiful when your not walking the whole way. we took some cute pictures on Casey's phone on it. (i forgot the battery to my camera in it's charger at my dad's house). After we got back, we watched Taken with my dad and then went out to dinner to this amazing Italian place in the town next to my dad's.

Sunday we went down to this cute little town called Sauselito (spelling is probably horrible). We walked the shops and ate some good food and watched a guy catch a sting ray and annother man make rock sculptures. it was a fun day!

Yesterday, we just had breakfast with my dad and drove home. Leaving him, as always, was really hard. Thank you for an amazing weekend daddy! Love you!

:)
* MORE PICTURES TO COME SOON.... I PROMISE*

August Already?

I cannot believe it is August! This month marks two years of me and Casey dating. I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone.

So Cliche...but true....moving on :)
Since my last post, nothing too much has gone on.

Recently at Sunshine, I got to go to Disneyland (aka best plaand this awesome place in Ventura called Golf N Stuff... its like Mountasia but I like it better. (i won a jackpot on a game there...it was awesome!) [picture of "A Day on the Ranch"]

I just got assigned my grade for next year (last year i was with the 2nd graders and this summer i was with the same group...but now they're 3rd graders) and this time I'm with the 1st graders. I'm so excited. also my friend Chrissy (or Tink when we're at work) will be working with me but she's with Kindergarten. Summer camp ends tomorrow with one last field trip to Scooters Jungle and then next week I'm off to first grade! :)

Casey and i have both decided to go back to school this semester... its gunna be a busy semester but I'm excited to go back. I registered for my classes yesterday... I'm taking two. one between shifts on Mondays and Weds and one after work on Thursdays. Casey registered today and he also is talking two classes. One of them is the same time as my Thursday night class so we'll be at school together those nights. I'm excited for that. The other class that he's taking will give me some time to study and do homework and stuff....and improve on my cooking skills.

Speaking of Cooking Skills, I've noticed that since we got married..Casey has REALLY helped me become confident in the kitchen. It's really fun (when i can) to have dinner all set up and ready on the table when he comes home... and he is all surprised because when we first got married... i couldn't even thaw the chicken without his help. At first there was a few glitches...like me over seasoning (too much lemon...there's no WAY to get around that...) but he never made me feel stupid for it. But the look on his face after his first bitter bite really taught me a lesson. :)

Other News:
Congrats to all my friends/family members who are engaged...
My cousin Shanell and my friends Danica and Rob. I'm so excited for you guys! and there are SO many others. YAY
Whitney (aka big sis) is currently in Italy right now... another Myler turns world traveler... I'm so excited for her... and super jealous! :)

OH and I haven't posted my new wedding pictures yet... well, ill end on that note... here they are...

::sigh:: im so lucky <3

until next time...

Annoying texting article...and other news

I GOT MY (professional) WEDDING PICTURES BACK! and i love them. They are on my facebook. i plan on posting some on here eventually... but not today :)

So i NEVER quote articles, but lately ive actually been reading some good ones... this one made me laugh and i got the though "i should SO post this on my blog..." is that lame??? Oh well.. here it is.... (The link to the original: http://lifestyle.msn.com/relationships/articlecosmomatch.aspx?cp-documentid=20548310)

THE TEN MOST ANNOYING TEXT HABITS EVER

Unless you're living a seriously alternative lifestyle, you've probably been communicating via text for a while now. You text your friends, your boyfriend(s) — even your parents. It's quick, convenient, and usually makes your life a helluva lot more pleasant ... except when you come face to face with the 10 worst texting offenses in the world. Check 'em out below, plus some advice on how to stop offenders in their tracks.

1. The Mass Text
It's Friday night, you're at home on the couch, and you get a text that goes something like this: "What are you getting into tonight?" You know for a fact that this very same text just went out to 20 other people at exactly the same time, and that the sender is just waiting to receive all his/her options before deciding what to do. So what if the only thing you have planned for the night is that lame-ass (but sooo good) Lifetime movie at 11? You refuse to hang out with someone unless they make specific plans to hang out with you. You know how you can block those newsletters that you never signed up for by sending an e-mail with "unsubscribe" in the body? We suggest doing the same thing in a reply-text.

2. The Texting Cult
There is always at least one point in the night — a lull in the conversation, a pause between thoughts — when it gets really quiet, and you look around and realize that all your friends are busy texting. One person pulls out her iPhone while everyone else is looking at the dinner bill, and then someone else starts doing it, and before you know it, you're in the middle of the sacred circle of text. Resist the urge to choose some random person in your contacts to send a useless message to. Instead, pull out your phone and send a text to everyone at the table asking, "Should we order another drink?" It will make everyone laugh but also point out the silliness of the situation.

3. The Double Message
Of course you screen calls. Everyone does. Sometimes you're in the middle of something and sometimes you just don't feel like talking. But your phone is still working, and you see the missed call and the voice message alert. So why — why?! — do certain people feel the need to send a text letting you know that they just left a message? Don't they realize that if someone is smart enough to read a text, they're also capable of understanding what the little bobble head with the sound waves coming out of him symbolizes? Text back, "What's next, a carrier pigeon?"

4. The Texting Tease
You're seeing a really cute/smart/funny/cool new guy, and your heart skips a tiny beat every time you get a text from him. In the middle of the week, you get one asking what you're up to this weekend. Assuming he wants to do something together, you let him know that it's looking pretty relaxed so far. Does he then proceed to make a plan with you? No. He responds, "Oh okay, cool." You stand there with a perplexed look on your face. Respond "Yeah, but call my secretary if you want to schedule something." This way, the ball is in his court, but ultimately you're the one who is in charge, thanks to your confident attitude.

5. The Bulk Texter
An example of what a series of texts from this person might look like:
Text 1: Hey!
Text 2: What's up?
Text 3: What are you doing tonight?
Text 4: Some of us are going to Cool People Bar tonight.
Text 5: Around 10
Text 6: It's gonna be me and Chris
Text 7: Are you coming?
Text 8: Let us know
Text 9: Byeee!
Text 10: lolz

An example of what that exchange should look like:
Text 1: Hey, Chris and I are going to Cool People Bar around 10 tonight. Let us know if you wanna come.

An example of what you could text back:
Text 1: Please
Text 2: never
Text 3: text
Text 4: me
Text 5: this
Text 6: way
Text 7: again.
(one-minute pause)
Text 8: For "realz."

6. The Bored Texter
You've just finished a sufficiently long and entertaining texting exchange with someone, and now you're ready to put your phone down for a little while. But your phone dings, and it's another text from said person. It looks like this: "Soooo..." Or, "What upppp." Or, "la la la..." Clearly, they have nothing else to say and just want something to do. Send a text saying, "Running, watching movies, reading books, baking." Your buddy will get the point that some people actually have a life.

7. The Show-and-Teller
Love is wonderful. We're huge advocates of love and being in love and enjoying that love. People gushing on and on about their amazing love life? Not so much. Not only do you have to listen to them tell every insignificant story about how cute it was that their boyfriends ate pancakes for dinner and woke up with a funny hairdo, but you also have to read all of their SUPER-cute texts. "Guys, look what he wrote to me! Omg look at what he said now! Haha aww, look at this one!!" The cure? A dose of their own medicine. "Hey, look what my Mom said about her gallbladder! Omg you won't believe how I'm planning to organize my sock drawer! Aww, my dog is wagging his tail. Oh, he's doing it again!!"

8. The Goobers-and-Popcorn Texter
The previews are over, you've been waiting to see this movie for weeks, and here you finally are, snacks in hand. But the guy in front of you insists on ruining your experience by texting for the entire 96 minutes. Here's a little secret he doesn't know: EVERYONE sees his phone lighting up. And hears it vibrating violently every two minutes. When the lights come up at the end of the flick, call up a friend and loudly discuss how rude the guy texting throughout the entire movie was. Then get ready to start running.

9. The Lingering K
This one is especially aggravating if you're not on an unlimited texting plan. You get a message asking how your day went or if you'll be free at a certain time, so you send back a detailed and informative reply. Your phone dings again. You open the message and it says... "k." Do people not even have the decency to include the o? The offender doesn't even need to reply to the message. But if they feel the need to, could they not at least drum up something a little more personal/creative/not totally unnecessary? Respond by letting them know how much, to the cent, they owe you for superfluous texts the next time you're together. Then hold your palm out expectantly.

10. The "Tween-Speak" Texter
Guys should never, ever get comfortable with using text slang and abbreviations. Whether he's a friend, date, or boyfriend, no girl wants to associate the men in their lives with tween-speak. The next time he sends you a "TTY L8ER" or "C U 2morrow," tell him that he should really consider an iPhone, BlackBerry, Sidekick, or "anything that gives you more room to text." He'll realize how outdated his text-talk is.

Lots of Updates!

It's been a while since my last blog....so of course, a lot's been going on.

I turned 2TWENTY0!

For my birthday/memorial day weekend Casey and i took a much needed road trip to San Francisco to see my daddy. we had a coupon so we rented a little convertable for a great deal. It made the drive a lot easier than if we were in my old clunker or in Casey's giant (but way cool) truck. It was SO nice to see my daddy, I really miss seeing him all the time :( . We road a trolley car and walked the warf and braved some intense winds. Casey took his first train ride ever. We had tons of fun.

A few days after coming home, casey and i went to Disneyland (you get in free on ur bday this year so, the Disney freak i am had to take advantage of that offer!). It was a blast!

OH YAH! and we also got rid of my old clunker and got me a NEW CAR! It was way overdue. My car was at 199,950 miles. The new car is an '09 VW Jetta California Edition.

For the Fourth of July, Casey and I went on a trip to Lake Mead with his family and some other people. It was so much fun. On the way up there we drove through this huge storm with hail and crazy rain and lighning really close to us and stuff. it was awesome! We got a few good days on the lake, and a day in Vegas (we walked Mandalay Bay and saw the Shark Reef Aquarium) before the end of our long weekend. I went wakeboarding for the first time actually knowing what i was doing. Too bad for casey though, he went up with a hurt back and it didnt start feeling better til the last day of the trip. But we still had a blast. I love lake mead and cannot wait to go back!

I'm really happy and really blessed. Casey is an amazing husband and i love knowing that i have him to come home to and him to be with me forever! I am so excited for friends of mine that are engaged who get to soon experience the amazing blessings of marriage as i have been these past (almost) four months!
Random other news:
